New Market Player Recovering From Hard Collision

11&12 New Market Bobcats center fielder Austin Whiteside suffered a punctured lung and bruised both lungs in a hard collision with left fielder DJ Young during a Friday night game. Coach Dyyeun Walker reports Whiteside is doing much better and may even leave the hospital this weekend, his oxygen levels are being observed. Young was not seriously hurt in the collision.

Walker said, "We are hopeful that his recovery will be speedy, as we miss his supporting kind and loving attitude, not to mention the 100% work ethic that he gives during every game and practice. Thanks to all of you for you for your support and concern."

Walker added that the team was very fortunate and thankful to have two nurses and two EMS personnel on site when collision occurred. "They did a great job, and the Lord was looking out for him," he said.

8u Kings Take Nations Tournament

The 8u LC Kings gathered in Lexington on Saturday after their Randleman Lake League games to play in the Triad Sports Invitational Tournament. Losing a tough defensive battle to the Davie County Naturals, 5-3, the Kings roared back to win their next three games by a combined score of 43-9. The Kings run-ruled the King Kryptonite, Carolina Titans and Yak Baseball, with awesome hitting and stellar play in the field. It's the second tournament championship for the 8u Kings, and the team seems to be hitting it's stride as it readies for June.

Thoughts & Prayers to the Humble family...

It is with great sadness to report that last night around 7:00 pm we lost a special parent, Chris Humble, from a heart attack suffered Friday. She is the wife of Chad Humble, the mother of Austin Humble and the step mother of Nathan Humble who both play in our ball program.

Chad and Chris had just came over to Level Cross from South East this year and have jumped in with both feet to help out in anyway possible. Please keep the Humble family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Visitation for Christina Freeman Humble is 6:30-8:30 PM Wed. night, April 18 at:
George Brothers Funeral Home
803 Greenhaven Drive, Greensboro, NC 27406

Thanks,

Brandon Laughlin
President

8u Kings Win New Market Tourney

The 8u Kings were undefeated in the New Market Tournament held March 31 & April 1 at Coggins Fields in Sophia. The Kings bested the New Market Civitans 15-8 for the title.

In their first outing, the 6u Kings played well also, winning their only two games.

After their thrilling victory in the Spring Warm-up Tournament at LC, the 10u Kings lost the first game of single-elimination to Sumner, 10-6.

Many thanks to Dyyeun Walker, Charles Sweatt and the entire New Market program for inviting the LC Kings teams to play in their tournament. It was great fun.

12u - LC Spring Warm-up Tournament

Congratulations to Franklinville, winners of the 12u Spring Warm-up tournament. Franklinville won a hard fought title game against the Carolina Thunderstixx, 6-3, after turning back Yak Baseball in a 5-4 thriller. The Thunderstixx reached the championship game after overtaking the New Market Bobcats in their final at-bat, 8-7.

10u - LC Spring Warm-up Tournament

In the longest "two-day tournament in recorded history," the Level Cross Kings rallied to top the LA Flex and win the championship game. The tournament started Saturday, but heavy rains kept pool play from being completed until Sunday afternoon. Single-elimination games were played Wednesday night, with the semi-finals and championship on Thursday. The Kings topped Sumner in a tight 6-5 victory, then watched as the Flex came back from seven runs to tie the Triad Pride and send their semi-final to extra innings. The Flex won 13-12.

Like a Fox World Series telecast, the championship started late, and like a World Series Game 7, both teams emptied their bull pens for the title. The game was a roller coaster ride for both teams, as the Kings timely hitting and good pitching in the late innings won the game, 15-14.

8u - LC Spring Warm-up Tournament

Big cheers for the Davie County Naturals, who shut out the New Market Vipers 5-0 to win the 8u championship game. The Vipers did all their scoring in the opener, beating the top-seeded Level Cross Kings 20-11, clouting two big home runs in doing so. The Naturals reached the finals after topping a tough Yak Baseball team.

What a way to close out a game.

Back to back home runs by James and Malichi along with 4 doubles (2 for AJ and 2 For Devonn) and a triple by Luke were not enough to beat the Sumner Yankees tonight. We had a season high 17 hits but couldn't find a way to get them out. Not being ...

Sumner Braves 14, LC Wolverines 7
